Credentialed math teacher

I received my teaching credential through my Americorps service teaching Middle School math in Houston, TX. With students I currently tutor, I get involved in their educational experience beyond that day’s content. While teaching I boosted student achievement through:

  • Creating a YouTube channel and incentives program to empower students to seek additional feedback on homework and math review assignments (84 subscribers, 8,000+ views, 1,000+ comments, 100+ videos)

  • Organized three “math party” review sessions at a local restaurant to create a joyful culture around end-of-year test preparation and provide students additional support (recruited 13 volunteer tutors, impacting 26 fifth-graders)

Mr. Zeitlin persists through long hours to record homework videos that students watch to review for module assessments. He also hosted a workshop for parents of some of the most struggling students to learn how to use online learning systems to support their child. He refuses to focus only on one subset of students but instead works to ensure that NO child is left struggling or unsupported. Mr. Zeitlin’s persistence is contagious for his students, fellow teachers, and all of KIPP Courage.”

Hal instantly became a client favorite. What struck me beyond Hal’s sheer intelligence and strong work ethic was Hal’s sense of maturity and community. I cannot think of a better person to recommend. Simply put, Hal is the kind of person you want to have on your team.
